• Diamond drilling programme returning significant high-grade results from
both in-fill and resource extension drilling.
Batavia Mining Limited (ASX: BTV) today announced significant initial results from the recently
commenced in-fill and resource extensional drilling programme at the Deflector Gold-Copper
Project at Gullewa in Western Australia, including an outstanding best intersection from the
new programme of 5.00m @ 43.5g/t Au and 2.1% Cu.
.
The drilling programme commenced in mid-March 2006 with two key objectives:
• in-fill drilling targeting the upper portion of the Deflector resource in the West Lode,
which is aimed at increasing the level of confidence in this portion of the resource and
upgrading it to the Indicated category; and
• resource extensional drilling which is being conducted both along strike and, more
importantly at depth focusing on targets beneath West Lode with the objective of
increasing the Mineral Resource to a level of 1M oz Au Eq.
Significant, high-grade results have so far been received from both components of the drilling
programme, which is currently 40% complete. These included high-grade intercepts from the
West Lode including 4.00m @ 8.21g/t Au, 0.17m @ 123.4g/t Au and 2.6% Cu, 4.62m @
17.60g/t Au and 0.2% Cu and 1.66m @ 20.17 g/t Au and 0.6% Cu, including 0.32m @
94.2g/t Au. Full details of the drilling results received to date are provided in the table
overleaf.
Batavia is aiming to complete this drilling programme by the end of May 2006, to be followed
by resource modelling. Further results from the ongoing programme will be announced as soon
as they are received.
