Thanks for those comments.
I was a bit perplexed over Thorburn's comments I was eating too many calories ... the program I am on recommends 2000 cals per day for men who are exercising ... I cut that to 1800 cals per day and then to the current 1500-1700 day over 3 months because it didn't feel a struggle and of course I lose weight more easily ... I've noticed the weight loss after 4-5 months has slowed to lower end of the 0.5-1.0 kg/week range and that if we go out for dinner with friends over the weekend I have to be really disciplined with the eating/walking to lose just 0.5 kg over the following week ... based on your tip about 7,700 cals = 1 kg of weight loss my 45km/week of walking is accounting for about 60-80% of that ... overall I feel my regime is reasonably balanced at present.
I am looking forward to trying some 30-50km fund raising walks after say July and maybe some 5km and possibly 10km fun runs later this year.
Cheers
