I'm talking about the choice - no one wants to go under the knife and doctors would always take alternative options if they offered the same outcome surgery is always the last resort - ask a doctor if they would go under the knife if it wasn't the only option they would all say no - surgeons on the other hand that's a bit different they make their hay with the knife, they look disappointed when surgery is cancelled if the issue has resolved of its own accord.
