No. Trading halts are not exercised to stop excessive trading, rather, it's to ensure equal information flow.
SRX has to request a TH or else they'll be violating ASIC regulations, given what they flagged in the last release about this conference.
i.e, it is to stop people attending the conference from taking advantage of information you do not have.
