It depends upon what your aims are, your investment style, what sort of time span etc. etc., so you really need to do your homework and decide for yourself. Use the suggestions and any others you can get about specific companies but do the homework.
To answer your specific question though, try GOLD. It tracks the price virtually cent for cent. Most company stocks wont track gold very closely.
