Why do they have to try to fix things when they aint broke!
Call me a dinosaur but XP Pro was great. It was only due to my PC finally dying and I couldn't buy a new motherboard that was XP compatible that I had to upgrade to Windows 7.
The motherboard I bought for my new PC is ok for windows 8.1 but not beyond...so back on the merry go round when this one gives up.
They also get you because newer software won't operate on older operating systems, so either way upgrades are inevitable.
The only upside is that hardware is getting cheaper to replace, so you can pick up a pretty good mother board for less than a hundred bucks...
