There is nothing to encyrpt in the BIOS on your motherboard, is why it doesnt encrypt
You can buy hard drives where the bios in the hard disk will encrypt for you, which requires a password when you turn the comptuer on to unlock the drive prior to boot.
Company grade notebooks also come with a TPM chip which windows use's to store your hard drive keys in if you use their bitlocker program, if the disk is taken out or the chip is tampered with the keys are lost permanently.
