I agree with you in regards to deducting the education expenses. And that's what I am trying to say is that you have to be in the same profession and it should be directly related to the profession. I deducted full course fee and other study related expenses for my almost one and half year course from my taxable income based on that and ATO did it for me.
I am just sharing my experience and information. Of-course it depends on one's own circumstances that's why DYOR and make own decision and check with your own accountants.
