No, it means that MO is doing his usual thing of dangling carrots hoping for best definite offers. He is saying, “We’ll go anywhere. Just show us the money.” The 6 months is also on CWE elastic timescales. He has to show immediacy and the journalist needs a story. Surely we know by now that statements need to be interpreted figuratively, not as literal gospel truth.
Notwithstanding that, it is possible that RI or Ireland are the next chosen locations, but not likely. It was nearly two years ago that EDF approached CWE to again be actively engaged in its RI program. However after the last RI debacle I think that EDF and DCNS have had their noses pressed firmly to the window keenly watching the CETO 5 progress and evaluation. It was not for nothing that DCNS invited CWE to partner them for the Chilean marine energy investigation program. Now that the C6 is on the design screen any interested parties will want to see some outcome from that before arranging a MoU.
Maintaining diplomacy with previous contacts and ‘on-going’ projects are also critically important so that MO throws out actual names like Ireland every now and then. He wants them as a definite customer (but not yet). Bermuda is bound to also get another turn on the publicity hurdy-gurdy.
Meanwhile, MO continues with his funded in-house (Perth) program and fishes for funding for the array at WaveHub.
Make an offer please, anyone?
