the US Congress will be passing legislation that will give Powell full control over funds for post war reconstruction in Iraq. This is a strong message to Rumsfeld - no more! (Rumsfelds team was keen on rolling on to the next country on the hit list.)
So it may well be that diplomacy will prevail and peace will break out, accompanied by a global sigh of relief no doubt.
Its feasible that the markets will respond positively after such a long time looking down.
