British Tories move quickly on ending wind subsidies
The British Government has moved forward by a year the end-date for support for onshore wind farms under its Renewables Obligation scheme, the
BBC reports.
According to the news service, new wind farms will be excluded from the scheme for April 1 next year, a year earlier than expected, ending support for the cheapest readily-available form of clean energy in the UK amid election promises to hold down power prices and increase renewable energy.

Onshore wind generation fed 14 GW into the UK grid last year. If the move is away from onshore wind, then other renewable energy forms of generation should benefit. The UK version of our feed in tariff is about five times more generous for marine energy than that paid in Australia.
It would seem that the conservatives in the UK have the same aversion to onshore wind as ours do.
