When it comes to chest or heart pains , it's always best to err on the cautious side so that doctor should be ashamed. A substantial section of heart can die while waiting to see if it's serious.
From what I understand, the first thing doctors should do is a ECG and then a troponin test if ECG shows no abnormality.
