Interesting observations PSI.
It would be good to see your model too one day.
You say - "When they do hit desorption pressure (which my rough calculation suggests will be somewhere around 1000 to 1500 psi) then we should start to see significant gas flows, if STX have got the saturation calculation right."
In my previous discussions I was led to believe peak desorption would be somewhere around 500psi (which could result in more than 50% of the gas being released from the coals) . I may be incorrectly reading what you are saying here though. Are you suggesting that peak desorption point (where the coals release most of their gas) is at 1000-1500 psi ? Not 500 psi ?
