I had another listen to the latest RRS link as well. Didn't pick this up last time but China charges AU$16,000 to register petrol/diesel cars, or was it all vehicles? didn't take careful note but anyway...
electric vehicles are free to register and half the purchase cost is refunded!!!
Only reason is isn't going gangbusters yet is the need for infrastructure.
