Copyright will not protect the process through which the particular work was created or the use of information within it.
However in the instance of computer software which I guess this more or less covers....
Copyright law can be used to prevent the total duplication of a software program, as well as the copying of a portion of software code (both of which are examples of "literal infringement").
So it seems so long as you have the "code" copyrighted then in essence the"code" by that I presume it means "the source code" of the particular software, can not be copied otherwise it infringes on literal infringement.
