NTC netcomm wireless limited

AT&T and DirecTV merger, page-3

I have been following that too and it is very interesting. I refrained from posting it here because:

    - The US rural broadband opportunity that NTC refer to may not be AT&T. There are many other providers already using fixed wireless technology so the opportunity may be with a smaller provider.
    - The AT&T rural broadband plan being made by AT&T seems more like a pledge to the FCC to get the merger deal approved. Given the profitability of fixed wireless is a not as good as wired technology in urban areas, AT&T will most likely do the minimum amount to honor its pledge. This theory is further supported by the FCC mandating minimum speeds of only 10Mbps/1Mbps.
    - NTC’s limited presence in the USA will make it difficult to compete with other established and proven suppliers.

Anyway, the Connect America Fund is injecting plenty of cash in rural broadband and a deal with NTC is always possible. I agree that a deal will be transformational for NTC but the chances are minimal at this stage.
