What is it with the left? They are universally happy to borrow other's money and go into debt but never want to pay it back?
This bloke Tsipris has surely pulled the biggest swifty on the Greek people by hoodwinking them into believing by saying no to further Austerity measures it will give him the upper hand in negotiations.
By telling the people that they should refuse to be "blackmailed" by voting No to any more offers of money through the Greek's actually taking more financial responsibility and cutting spending is stupidity.
Sure on the one hand the EU and Germany who hold the biggest debt could go back to the table as he thinks they will and write off 30% of the debt and look to other ways to recoup the rest of money but why would they?
They can also refuse to throw more money at the heap with no chance of ever getting that back too. As a Creditor you hold the upper hand on the debtor...
In this case there is a humanitarian issue as well, millions of people on their knees as money and food runs out due to one man's stance.
I think the Greek's need to rethink their choice of Prime Minister and throw out this leftist Government and look for a stable intelligent Government to take over and negotiate with their creditors in a mature and logical fashion. Then make the necessary changes to the Greeks mindset and economy.
If they don't they are in for decades of poverty and despair.
This smacks so much of Australia in 2013. Australian's had a choice too, We could have easily continued on the road to financial ruin and destruction with the ALP in control of the finances. Fortunately for us, there were still some intelligent people here who could see where we were heading and put responsible adults back in charge.
Thank goodness for that, I hope the whole world will look upon the Greek tragedy as a lesson of what happens when you ignore debt and continue to borrow to fund lifestyle...
