    Acorn, Agreed!

Uluru is a remarkable Australian Icon. My wife and I walked around the rock rather than climb it. Great walk. My sister and brother in law chose to climb it, and they were back at ground level a half hour or more before we completed the walk. I believe it was something like 12 kms around the rock. Areas around the rock that had cultural significance to the indigenous people were closed off to the public.

Personally, we found the Olga's equally as enchanting. On the approach to the area via Great Central Road, we came over the crest of a rise in late afternoon and saw the Olga's in full late evening colour. Spectacular! Wouldn't have missed it for quids!

Someone mentioned Mt Augustus in WA, which also is well worth a look. We got rained out there.....then headed true north up to the three rivers area and on to Paraburdoo and Mt Tom Price in our van. Wonderful trip...despite to mud.

Australia is an amazing place and I we have been to a lot of it, but hope to be able to do a good bit more with a bit of luck.

My wife and I see an Icon (Uluru/Ayers Rock) and others see simply "a rock". Personal preferences at work!
