My colleagues and I have recently studied artefacts ( rock stacks) that delineate boundaries at the high point between river systems.
We often assign names to particular items of interest, for example a series of strategically placed lizard traps are known as ' snake runs'.
These rock stacks are known (between us) as boundary markers, and I have always imagined that they would provide a direct challenge to the concept known as terra nullis.
