Elon musk's aim when he released Tesla's patents to the industry that this would be the outcome , Apple's entry along with many others is a very positive sign. In regard to Tesla the main aim is to build demand for battery use this is the core to their business, it will in turn reduce the cost of batteries to all players and ultimately induce the public to be attracted to EV's and help save the environment.
