Hingdog, I hope matters don't get worse since this is an important moment and it's time our leaders did just that!

The AFL cannot afford to allow the continuation of racist attacks on individual players. If it does it will kill the code and even become vicariously libel for work place related health claims against it for decades to come.

But this is also an opportunity for genuine leadership and for a transformation of the AFL's archaic, blokey culture into a much more professional one. It's a chance for Australians to become more aware of how racism manifests itself and to emphatically reject it before the situation becomes irretrievable.

Afternoon rews reports have indicated that the Eagles FC has denounced the behaviour of those responsible last weekend. Full marks to them; but what a shame that Hawthorn dropped the ball at the start of the year when the booing of Adam Goodes defined their loss against the Swans and established a dreadful model for other clubs to mimic.
