BLIS Technologies Chief Executive Announces Resignation
After nine years leading Dunedin-based NZX-listed BLIS Technologies, Dr Barry
Richardson has announced his intention to resign to pursue other interests.
Dr Richardson said with a doubling of revenue and some recent success in
pushing through regulatory approvals for BLIS products in international
markets, now is a good time to hand the reins over to a new leader to take
the company on to the next level of development.
"At the recent AGM we forecasted a further large increase in revenues based
on orders now in the pipeline. I think the company is in a place where it
has a bright future and I am proud to have played a part in that," said Dr
Richardson.
BLIS board chairman Peter Fennessy said when Dr Richardson joined BLIS
Technologies nine years ago he took on a difficult task but through dogged
persistence he has got the company where it is today, poised for growth.
"The work that needed to go on when Barry came on board was the hard stuff
which was to get through the arduous and often contradictory processes of
attaining regulatory approval for a product range that regulatory bodies had
no previous experience of. There is no equivalent to BLIS products so
Barry has had to establish the basis for those organisations to understand
what they were dealing with.
"He also had to develop an international market strategy as up until then
BLIS was primarily focused on New Zealand."
Dr Fennessy said what was needed was someone who could grind through the
technical detail because without those approvals
BLIS could not get any of its products into key markets. There was no way
around it.
"Barry had the right mix of experience in international marketing of
added-value nutritionals and nutritional ingredients as well as a solid
grounding in complex science."
He said a recruitment process was now underway and Dr Richardson would leave
the company near the end of the financial year to facilitate a smooth
transition.
