This is certainly the drum that many theists constantly beat. They seem to think that if no consequences ultimately exist for themselves in a Godless existence there would be no point in morality.
It seems to be all about self. This narrow view forgets about the impact on others, both in the present and in the future. In my view only a selfish, self centred outlook on life can lead to this line of reasoning. They need a God to extract themselves from the a self centred view of life; they seem to fail to appreciated that a focus on others in both current and future generations can remove this self centred view of life without a God.
