"So fortunately, we made a decision a couple years ago to get rid of most our outlying assets. We got rid of our Eagle Ford because we didn't have enough acreage and we were dealing with significant decline curves there, what you're seeing other companies experience. When you stop drilling, you're going to have much lower production."
That quote comes from the mouth of Gary Evans CEO of Magnum Hunter (MHR) from their Q2 Qtrly confcall.
I guess that "experienced partner" and "compelling investment case" described by Mr. Thick back in Dec'13 missed some vital analysis, such as sensitivity analysis to oil price and the capital needs to continue drilling (to overcome declines) and acquire acreage.
I guess Gary was the visionary after all? (i.e. if MHR survives with their best rocks in the Utica and Marcellus) )
