As for a crystal ball, it's nothing to do with crystal balls, it is to do with physics, there has to be a medium to transport the transfer of information, it is either done by wireless or fixed line, (magic isn't real, so it doesn't count).

Copper has been transporting information from one location to another for more than a century, but it's practical limits have been severely tested in recent times.

Considering the capacity fibre can carry, even if household needs increase by 100s of times present needs, fibre has the capacity to deliver.

Fibre easily meets the physical capacity of our needs for the next 30 to 50 years, and beyond, so I don't know what you think is going to become obsolete.

Whatever new technology is developed, it will either bolt on the ends of the fibre or will be wireless with all the physical restrictions of the spectrum and supplying of the service.

You're assuming wireless tech won't improve at a great rate of knots. Who knows what will be possible down the track.

BTW, someone said you couldn't pay individually to get fibre connected to your house. When did that get decided, last heard it was an option?
