In his testimony before the Senate Banking Committee on financial literacy, Bernanke said the US economy faces "upside inflation risks" when asked a question on inflation and interest rates. He reiterated that further policy tightening might be needed and that decisions would be very data dependent. We see a good chance that the Fed will hike by 25bp to 5.25% at the end of June, and then pause to assess the effect of tightening to date.
