Appointment of New Director

The Board of Trustpower Limited is pleased to announce that it has appointed
Susan Peterson as a director of the Company effective today.

Susan is currently an Independent Director of Wynard Group Limited, Vista
Group International Limited and the New Zealand Merino Company Limited.

Susan is also a Member of the NZ Markets Disciplinary Tribunal and a
Ministerial Appointee to the National Advisory Council for the Employment of
Women.

Susan's earlier career was in law and financial services where she held a
number of senior management roles at ANZ including General Counsel and
Company Secretary, General Manager of the Direct Banking Group and General
Manager of Wealth Business and Performance.

The Trustpower Board considers Susan to be an Independent Director.
