H & co
I do not disagree with you that the insto attitude will be cautious going forward, but to the other poster who felt that HDR would have known about the Ching sitaution in advance of the placement, I disagree.
I believe (and i think this is basically what SP said in Sydney) the gas compressor basically blew up just after the placement. That means without "gas lift" facilities to help "balance" the troublesome northern wells, they were left with little option but to reduce the preassure maintenance from water as well in the Northern segment. One of the wells is totally shut in, the other could be shortly because without "gas lift" to balance the water injection effect, there could be long term damage to the reservoir.
If I am wrong with this I am prepared to be corrected, but from what has been said, the final blow was the gas compressor failure that led to the further decline from the previously sustainable 60k bblsday down to 40-45k bblsday. All of this woudl have been explained to instos/placementees in fine detail I imagine.
