Malcolm was well aware of Newsat. I spoke with him on a number of occasions regarding them in a hope he might intervene in the tender processes to try and include us.
Unfortunately AB made sure we wouldn't get a look in by mouthing off at NBN very early in the game to the point where even if we had been the last option available on Earth NBN would have found a way to get the job done without Newsat even if it cost them a lot more, just as long as they didn't have to do business with us.
We had the teleports, the infrastructure, the expertise, the satellites, the slots, etc. but even then NBN refused to look at us and went out and paid a fortune to duplicate what they could have had for a lot less but they wouldn't do it.
As Malcolm was at the time Shadow Communications Minister he couldn't directly get us a look in and by the time he became the Minister all the key contracts had been tendered and let so it was too late.
Our bridges were burnt very early with no hope of turning back.
