However the HIH case is extremely complex involving many parties.

MEL's case is fairly vanilla. The courts found the Gov to be wrong, their decision to not appeal is an effective admission of guilt, it now comes back to value.

That's a lay opinion I should add. If anyone has genuine clarity on how long we should expect to wait I'd be very interested!

Also, from what I can tell the compensation relates to the damage, not compensation for walking away from the Northern Rivers. So I don't think we can expect anywhere near the figures bandied around - as that related to a buy back of the licence.
