Future of Coal & Coal Technologies

I've been doing more reading than contributing lately and there has been some great posts recently (Only Money, HCT and Hans as always and some newcomers too, Ashen, which is great).

Here is very relevant marco news regarding coal, in particular in Asia as well as the focus on clean coal.

Here is a summary of the key insights I've noted:

1. Coal is very relevant in Asia, "fuelling much of the world's electricity"

2. IEA (International Energy Agency) says that coal will continue to grow in south east Asia by 4.8% YOY to 2035.

3. Focus on the importance of cleaner coal technology in particular lowering emissions and increasing efficiency.

4. Importance on the use of coal technologies.

5. Coal is affordable and a reliable source of fuel globally to drive economic growth.

6. Mention on Japanese coal technology which has not been adopted globally (well - we all know that India has its sights on something very special).

7. World Coal Association to focus on the accessibility of coal technologies (interested if anyone has researched World Coal Association and the IEA and any relationship with ECT, Matmor or Coldry).

Global trend in lowering emissions and the reliance on coal as a global fuel source has ECT in the perfect place in the global market place. Trends in environmental efficiencies and economic growth both focussing on coal is exciting.
