It's not an either/or question.
We should take more genuine refugees AND do more for the homeless.
It's all about skewed priorities. Australia could afford to do both these aims is we had some decent leadership. We could start by slashing inefficient business subsidies and making some corporations pay their fair share of tax. Also bring in the 'Buffet tax' i.e. minimum tax rate for the very high income earners.
