You are probably right in that there will be write-offs as they dump poor performing segments take out some cost but the business will be better for the change and this will be a catalyst for a rerating and SP growth. Just have to hold on for the ride.
Using consultants is a good idea. They provide resource and knowledge that may not be available internally and also an independent assessment to ensure there are no sacred cows and some existing management protecting their business segments.
