Who cares if it is a floating gain. You haven't sold an investment, you haven't made a dime.

Generally speaking an on going debate is whether brick n mortar is better than equities. Either is only as good as the holder can buy or sell at the most opportune time.

I have been through these spikes in valuation both direction to be sufficiently educated by the process to expect if I have a dillema of an exponential value spike in my favor, I should not take things for granted. In addition, I don't want to hold an investment in heavy draw down mode because any further temptation is like scared money trying to chase only a sure thing investment.

However if you are a serious trapped bull then you only have 2 options, time and blind hope.

Fully owned Brick n mortar / gold bullion vs fully owned equities...... Hmmmm. Brick n mortar / gold bullion can be passed on to the next generation or sold to fund your comfy retirement. They don't get suspended & you can touch it.

Equities should be played with spare money to lose.... Companies can have profit downgrades and see your investment halved in 1 hour..... or suspended indefinetely. It's paper.
