It is impressive...watching the multitude in the Grand Mosque doing their circles....What you are not seeing from an aerial shot is the Saudi security there - making sure they keep going in that circle. In a confined area like that they seem to manage ok, but they do have, and use, some painful sticks to thump and enforce the road rules when needed. And even there, they do have instances of people falling down and being trampled...usually the old and sick......just not massive carnage that gets headlines. A fair number of hajjis arrive on their last legs and fail to make the trip home alive....that's why they come...to increase their chances of heaven...and the virgins.
