Ellington is back in the squad now who isn't a rookie. Hayne had 3 runs last week for negative yardage and 1 good punt return.
He should stay at PR but Ellington is a far better RB. Hayne has instincts for open field, but doesn't have instincts for congested run lanes, nor does he have the size/strength for that position as a 1st/2nd down RB.
He could make good progress as a 3rd down RB, which is a dual run/slot/screen reciever type position, which hayne's size, agility and good hands could make an impact.
No media in the USA (that I've seen, and I live west-coast of Canada so we get most of the news from west coast usa for sport) has said anything about Hayne... so not sure on your source there.

Maybe I missed it, but I think u will find that had set himself at RB but didn't get the ball nor did he run, which may explain his "negative yardage". Maybe I missed his runs whilst making a cuppa.
