You accuse others of miss- or selective quoting, but you are guilty of it yourself.

    The article states ...
"Instead of denier or skeptic, the news outlet now prefers the term climate doubters, or, for the long-winded: those who reject mainstream climate science."

Even the most liberal interpretation of the above does not support your statement ...
The longwinded Associated Press style book now has climate denier as "those who reject mainstream climate science"

    The article does say ...
"Scientists who consider themselves real skeptics – who debunk mysticism, ESP and other pseudoscience, such as those who are part of the Center for Skeptical Inquiry – complain that non-scientists who reject mainstream climate science have usurped the phrase skeptic. They say they aren’t skeptics because “proper skepticism promotes scientific inquiry, critical investigation and the use of reason in examining controversial and extraordinary claims.” "

Consequently, by adopting the terminology Doubter they are avoiding the emotionally charged Denier (rightly so), but de-legitimising the legitimate scientific concern over the validity of AGW science.

Now we have; Scientists who disagree with Pseudoscience are Skeptics, and Scientists who disagree with AGW Science are Doubters.

I doubt whether that will take off!
