Warming was within trend for the last 19 years, (working backwards) 2015 = +0.3 Celsius to +0.1 Celsius in 1996, (forward or backwards, the numbers are the same).
An abnormal spike (1997-1998) of temperatures (or even in the stock market), normally results in a correction, which is what the data has shown in the return to trend.
2015 after the correction, the temperature still increased on the 1996 figures.
Your cherry picking by skipping over the likes of 2012, 2008, as they were obviously not the target years, even though temp variation would be hugely distinguishable to zero on those years.
Individual events may form part of the trend, but they don't define the trend as you and Cruz are trying to imply with your cherry picking and misrepresenting the data, using it to distract from the overall trend the data really shows.
The data is within trend, hopping on one leg backwards while chanting does not change the data.
Recently there was another thread going where a similar deceit was posted regarding a drop in gun related crimes by a massive percentage, what the poster didn't say was the massive drop was based on cherry picking a year there was an unusually high peak in crimes. The cherry picking may not have given a true picture, but it was good for their argument.
Your 18 year claim has no statistical merit, as it isn't representative of the overall trend the data shows, nor does it take in any account the unusual peak of 1997 and the time taken for the correction, and it relies on cherry picking by skipping over years until the desired result is achieved.
