" The Centre oversees 50 diverse projects that span five priority research themes aligned with the Australian Desalination Research Roadmap.
Projects funded by the NCEDA include novel coating materials to increase the life of desalination membranes, early detection of membrane biofouling to reduce costs and maintenance needs and treatments for spent membranes so that they can be reused and diverted from landfill waste.
Another project has produced a set of clean-in-place guidelines for desalination membrane users in the form of a comprehensive handbook that covers various scaling and fouling issues."
