Warning....one of my longer blog rambles........edit - ok...most of my posts r long rambles

Was doing some further thinking around the SA (self acquisition) mkt as it has been mentioned a few times today and ties into the mobile sector and some of my thoughts around that.

Firstly – from memory, SD in her Eureka IV implied that the mobile or consumer mkt (SA) appeared lower on the agenda than some other higher end security mkts.

Secondly – even SE mentioned in the ICBR conference vid that miniaturization won’t take much but implying that we aren’t at the point just yet.

So…if the SA mkt is maybe not in the near term future time frame then what is?

We know from the Ann’s that the sectors they have been talking to already as from 21 Sep Ann (and earlier ones) below….notice anything interesting geographically as well? I didn’t notice that till now….

“Wavefront is in early stage discussions with potential industry partners in various biometric market sectors, including consumer, healthcare, defence and aviation, both in Australia and North America. Wavefront’s technology has been positively received by these groups."

So, as for high end, definitely $ in that space as Govts etc spend multi millions / billions on border / defence and in house security for related dept's....Justice, FBI, DHS, OPM (who just got hacked this year & had millions of Govt staff fingerprints knicked) etc.

Also, there has been a substantial move into Healthcare for Biometric security as patient records are so confidential - just check out RightPatient Biometrics who are already in that space.

I suppose, one way (or my thought) to consider the possible mkt penetration or model is....you get your product in with high end like Govt / Defence / Health / Fin and that would pretty much be an automatic validation of your products value and ability.

The flow down effect would be that the mass consumer SA mkt would most likely by default want to jump on board and then be seeking out WBT for their product?

We already know the moby space is quite crowded with biometric systems and suitors lining up to get in there and as I suggested the other day, their shift has been NIR currently with essentially Fujitsu, NT Docomo, appears eventually Samsung and now also Microsoft (Lumia) all investing in that currently available tech potentially taking them out of the mkt for someone like WBT for the time being. However, that still does leave the Apples, Blackberry's and others still out there...hmmm

For WBT to try break into that mkt though with no real world currently commercially available SA product already being used by a "name brand" then it would take a lot of time, effort and $ to get a slice of the action.....go straight to the top end and as I say....by default the mass consumer mkt may then soon be knocking on WBT door providing them with a position of power in negotiations.

I also found something else kinda of interest from ICBR which threw me another line of thinking…

I did a search for "corneal" on the site and what came up was their "badge" system which students earn as they study - kinda like scouts I guess...lol

    http://icbrpurdue.org/?s=cornea

Interestingly, the badge that came up is to do with bar coding (huh?)....now - research time...bar coding or QR codes in particular are already crossing over into ATM usage as a multi factor set up with biometrics (fingerprint) - eg link:

    http://qrcodetracking.com/qr-codes-combined-with-biometrics-for-more-secure-atm-withdrawals/

If you also click on the bar code badge on Purdue it takes you to the all badges list

    http://icbrpurdue.org/biometric-badges/

and surprise (well not really)...there is under biometric modalities...an eye biometrics badge spelling out cornea & tear....indicates to me this may now be an accepted modality that Purdue will be offering for study in their programs for students.

But it was the relationship between QR codes (badge) and eye biometrics possibly being implemented into something like the ATM mkt that got me thinking - it is higher end security but still within the Fin mkt.

The moby component only comes in for the QR code generation and uses NFC to complete the transaction in conjunction with the biometric on the actual ATM.

I think some others are working on QR code plus biometric on the moby as well rather than the QR on the moby and biometric on the ATM…anyway…if a viable mkt, then point is….

Saves WBT having to speed up or try entering the moby SA mkt right now but still opens up a large component of the Fin mkt without messing too much with their existing hardware.

Just some rambling thoughts to consider, mull over or discuss….have a good one....
