I think we could see POG around $1700 aud by the end of this year because of the following:

US data has been pretty bad for a while now and the Fed looks like it will not raise rates in 2015.
The Philadelphia Fed manufacturing index falling 4.5 points. Inventories all fell.
Retail sales (ex autos), falling 0.3% for the month, far worse than forecast

Then we have the RBA which will probably cut rates because of the Banks and poor conditions.
This will probably send the aud down to below 70c usd again.

Gold shorts of any size seem to be missing in action lately.
