"Unless otherwise indicated, Metals X’s intentions if it acquires less than 50.1% of Aditya Birla Shares would be to request representation on the board (commensurate with its shareholding in Aditya Birla) and gain a more detailed understanding of all the businesses, assets and operations of Aditya Birla to evaluate performance, profitability and prospects of Aditya Birla to the greatest extent possible based on the information then available to Metals X." p54 bidder statement.

The "copper" strategy does make some sense as copper is commonly a by product of gold mines and vis versa. This acquisition would provide production facilities near their existing gold mines. "The Rover 1 prospect is a virgin IOCG (iron oxide copper-gold) discovery and the most significant so far in the Rover Field." P24.
