only agl takeover of aln approved

The ACCC has approved AGL’s takeover of ALN. It has rejected the alternative proposals calling for
ALN to takeover AGL and an AGL/ALN merger. Mr. Graeme Samuel, the ACCC Chairman, indicated
that only the AGL proposal committed to structural changes that completely separated key gas
transmission assets and infrastructure management assets. Conversely, ALN’s commitments relied
to heavily on behavioural commitments.
