    Exactly  basst.
It's also time the older "styles" of readers and sensors still using basic principles of voltage, current, capacitance change into the future of photonics, not only more accurate but can handle conditions much better. We are at a changing of the guard to speak, just like the first electrons and electronic devices were basic, simple, then they evolved into silicon switching devices such as transistors. Photonics is the next step in evolution, harnessing light and controlling it and moving from the electronics age to the Photonics age. LumiMEMS will no doubt in the future evolve and develop in design and characteristics to become better and be used in more widely dispersed product ranges. Electronics currently are a bottleneck as they are slower in response times than photonics, electronics can be destroyed by temperature, water or fluids, vibrations, interference and robust conditions...  Photonics or basically a beam of light doesn't have these characteristic flaws, just imagine if the processor or RAM in your computer used Photonic switching, not only would it be working at the speed of light the temperatures and power consumptions would be lower...
Anyway thats a while away but thats where it is heading Photonically controlled circuits, you know the power supplies and control crystals they use on movies like StarGate - Atlantis etc. powering their space ships...   lol...
