In answer to your question, I hardly rely on the rsi at all for trading. Usually don't have any indicators open for intraday trading, although the adxr can be an occasional exception. Often in the mornings as part of my preparation I'll look at a number of indicators (the usual suspects) in conjunction with different indices. Sometimes when the issue is clouded and index momentum is headed in a direction that I'm not sure is sustainable then I'll use an indicator or two to check out my hunches.
