Let's face it. Soccer needs to get its house in order.
The Australia Croatia game was an absolute farce because of what was allowed to occur during the game.
Referees simply refused to apply the rules.
Did no referee or referee's assistant see the arm wrapped around Viduka as he was dragged to the ground in the penalty area? Or were they just too gutless to give a penalty?
In the second half did no referee or referee's assistant see the Croatian defender deliberately use his hand to knock the ball away in the penalty area? Or were they just too gutless to give a penalty?
When a goal is so important, as it is in soccer, these non decisions ABSOLUTELY STINK.
It's not as if you might have one of these errors every 100 or so games. They occur consistently, game after game after game.
Not to mention the consistently wrong offside calls, usually depriving the attacking team of a goal or goal scoring opportunity.
Soccer just accepts this as part and parcel of the game. Soccer refuses to get its own house in order because the masses have also been indoctrinated to accept this and "get on with the game".
How many games of AFL football are decided by umpiring decisions? How many games of AFL football are wrecked by umpiring decisions?
It would just be a handful.
With soccer it's par for the course.
That's why soccer is a disgrace.
