This is exactly my way of thinking with trading blue chips. I do this all the time. You have to invest your own money though so you're not paying interest on a loan, and you have to have enough capital that you can average down your price in case you buy at the wrong time.

I think this strategy works with blue chips like the banks, supermarkets as if these go bust then we'll have a lot more to worry about than money. Plus these companies offer good dividends so you're giving yourself different opportunities to get your money back.
