re: its not soccer you americanized zombies
as an absolutely mad keen aussie rules supporter, in fact i still play superrules at 41 yrs of age, i find soccer an excellent game for the kids. I have two sons that play it. It is an excellent game for children who are not gifted sportspeople as they generally get a kick and play a reasonable role in the game no matter where they are on the ground. They learn to use both sides of their body and learn to become creative and skillful with their feet. This is all good preparation for the day they become a man and play Aussie Rules....lol. Seriously its a great game and the great players of the game would be as skillful at AFL had they pursued that as a carreer instead. On the issue of pulling up sore, i pull up sore after a game of basketball too, but it is nothing compared to the great game of AFL. You hit and get hit hard, side bumps, corkies, scratched, kicked, muscle strains etc. All this while running huge distances, afl players can run up to a half marathon. I can understand your son being sore when it is all he knows and his body is not conditioned to the rigours of AFL football. There is a moderate amount of aerobic capacity required for the game of soccer but not the same level as required by an AFL player in my opinion.
