A rapacious government that ignores the rule book as it seeks to impose taxes beyond the standard royalties... if I didn't know better I might suspect that you were describing Australia's former Rudd government and the Mineral Resources Rent Tax. There are so many stories that can be told around resource nationalism.
To my eyes, this was a clean and transparent way to move the project forward and eminently preferable to the solutions offered and found in some jurisdictions. Furthermore, to have the local government on board as a "partner" with a direct interest in the success of the project is a good outcome in my books. Now we all await that success...
