Yeah, I understand that confronting the problem is a good thing but those people who actually have NPD won't react well at all and what they tend to do is retreat and become self-destructive. I've experienced it and trying to make the person see that their own self-worth can be obtained without attacking others (or themselves) is very difficult. Maybe you're right and those that are displaying it might be better off being exposed so that they can examine themselves. Not sure. I know that when I revealed that to the person (not mentioned of course) displayed the very qualities they were accusing others of it bit me in the you-know-what.
